Worship @ Home on Wednesday 16.9.20
Here is an outline of our Worship @ Home on Wednesday which you can use on your own or with other people who are in your household.
In our Worship @ Home we are focusing on the idea of journeys and pilgrimage and we think about churches, cathedrals or places of pilgrimage we have visited over the years. We have been thinking about cathedrals and churches and places of pilgrimage and how the walking and what people see and think and hear and pray along the way is just as important as reaching a destination. During the summer months our own church is often open as a place for people to visit , to stop and reflect and pray. We open to welcome people coming to our town on cruise ships and we often, at the beginning of September, take part in the Open Doors events. Today and over the next few Wednesdays , you are invited to think of the church you call your home church as a place of pilgrimage and to remember different parts of the building, as though you were stopping there for a moment to read a bible verse and offer a prayer
Font – font is the starting point for many people on their journey of faith. Through baptism we are welcomed into the community of faith and assured of the love and mercy of God
Lamentations 3: 22 – 24
The Lord’s unfailing love and mercy still continue, fresh as the morning , as sure as the sunrise. The Lord is all I have and so I put my trust in him .
Prayer – God, we come seeking your forgiveness and trusting you for new beginnings. Amen
Communion table – the bread and wine are shared from the table , reminding us of the deep, great love of Jesus. Think of times you have shared life giving bread and wine around the table and the people you have sat with.
2 Corinthians 5: 17, 19
Anyone who belongs to Christ is a new person. The past is forgotten and everything is new…. God was in Christ, offering peace and forgiveness to the people of this world. And he has given us the work of sharing his message about peace.
Prayer – Thank you for the forgiveness and peace you offer us through Jesus. Help us to walk in them and share them with others . Amen
Blessing
May God’s love enfold you,
May God’s strength uphold you,
May God’s light shine upon you
And may God’s peace surround you
Amen
