Together on Tuesdays  19.5.20

We remember now, more than ever, that we are part of a community – of families and friends, of neighbours near and far.

This week is Mental Health Awareness Week . The theme chosen for this week is kindness – kindness to others and kindness to ourselves. Kindness matters at all sorts of different levels and in all sorts of ways. Kindness could not be more important at this time, when we are living with uncertainty and anxiety, when we are physically distant from people and structures which give us support and purpose. Information and resources are available on the ‘Mental Health Foundation’ website, SAMH website and the websites of other mental health charities and on the Church of Scotland website , the Moderator, Rt Rev Martin Fair, gives his perspective.

Chair of the Mental Health Foundation says –

“We have chosen kindness because of its singular ability to unlock our shared humanity. Kindness strengthens relationships, develops community and deepens solidarity. It is a cornerstone of our individual and collective mental health. Wisdom from every culture across history recognises that kindness is something that all human beings need to experience and practise to be fully alive.”

So let us be kind
