Worship @ Home on Wednesday 25 March

Worship @ Home on Wednesday

Many of us pray the familiar words of the Lord’s  prayer on a daily basis and every time we gather as the church we pray those words together.

In times of uncertainty and anxiety, we need the familiar, what is part of our normal routine and language.

Today we are encouraged to pray using the words of the Lord’s prayer.

Here is an outline of our Worship @ Home on Wednesday which you can use on your own or with other people who are in your household.

Opening Words

With words used by many each week, perhaps each day

Words of a prayer that has travelled centuries

Words of a prayer used across the world in countless languages

Words which are part of us

We come before God.

Bible Reading – Matthew 6: 9 – 13

Prayer

Our Father who art in heaven

Hallowed be thy name

Familiar words and the start of a prayer that so many people know by heart and so many people say regularly.

Gracious God, we thank you for the people who taught us these words and for the opportunities we have had to join in fellowship with others to say them together.

Today these words might be all that we can pray in our moments of fear and anxiety.

And so we thank you for the way that these words lead us to know the reassurance of your presence, reminding us of your never ending love for us.

In Jesus name we pray. Amen

Bible Reading – Ephesians 3: 14 – 21

Take a few moments to offer to God your own prayers for people you are concerned about today.

If you have a copy of CH4, read through or sing Hymn 524 – Jesus Christ, our living Lord

Blessing

May the blessing of the God of peace encircle you and all whom you love today and always.

Amen.
