Friday Focus 22.5.20

Friday Focus  22.5.20

Thank you to Hazel Munro  for today’s Friday Focus.

I am on holiday from work.  Yes, I am one of those people who is in the fortunate position of still being able to go to work during the current pandemic and so get the luxury of time off for a holiday.  It is not however, the holiday that I planned to have as I, like the rest of you, am required to stay at home.

I should have been in London – staying in the city centre, seeing some shows, and visiting some of the many attractions on offer, along with the many thousands of tourists who gather there each year.  I have been to London before, so I can remember the landmarks and re-live the experiences with the help of my photograph albums. As well as the sites, the thing that I remember most is the amount of walking that I did each day.  The city of London is relatively small, and it is easy to cover large distances on foot.

That got me thinking about one of my favourite poems called either “The Footprints Prayer” or “Footsteps in the Sand.” I am sure it will be known to many of you.

The ring that I wear has the image of footprints on the outside and the words of the poem engraved on the inside. I wear it to remind me that I am never alone, for no matter what, the Lord is always with me. Throughout this difficult time, no matter where you walk, He will share your load too, if you let Him.

Take care and stay safe.
