Westburn’s Early Chrisms Fayre was held on Saturday 24th September and was a resounding success as can be seen by the photographs below.
Much to the amusement of some passengers from the visiting cruise ship, Westburn Parish Church held an ‘Early-bird’ Christmas Fayre on Saturday, 24th September, 2016.
The Stedfast Silver Band entertained for the first 90 mins with an excellent collection of Christmas and other tunes – although there was some dancing being done by a certain Session Clerk and Probationer that may not have been up to the same standard.
With stalls including Christmas craft goods, home baking, sweet stall, soft toys, gifts and toys, children’s bottle stall, as well as Children in Poverty: Inverclyde, Starter Packs: Inverclyde and CrossReach there was plenty to peruse and buy.
The Boys’ Brigade done well selling burgers from the barbecue and holding the gazebo down at the same time due to the high winds, whilst the Scouting Assoc. ran a children’s fun zone in the Youth Hall. The Guiding groups and Girl’s Brigade also ran stalls, although they enjoyed the warmth inside the main halls. It was great to have the involvement and support of these groups.
Overall the event was a great success with over £2k being made for the church funds, and approximately a further £500 made between the ‘outside’ charities.
A huge thanks to everyone involved whether by working on set-up, on the day, by giving donations, making crafts, baking, coming along to buy. Without everyone being involved the event would not have been the enjoyable success it was.
